About me
Marie Powell's castle-hopping adventures across North Wales resulted in her medieval fantasy duology, Last of the Gifted: Spirit Sight and Water Sight, set in 13th Century Wales. In 2027, her picture book Garden Song (Lilac Arch Press) will join her 40+ children's books with such publishers as Scholastic Education and Amicus. Her short stories and poetry appear in Ghostly (Lintusen Press, 2024) and other anthologies, as well as such literary magazines as Room and Subterrain. She’s been coming to When Words Collide since it began and has been a panelist and/or workshop instructor for the past 10 years. She edited the Opening Doors Through Stories chapbook for newcomers to Canada and has given workshops through SaskArts’ Live Arts program, the Sage Hill Teen Writing Experience, and the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild. Marie lives on Treaty 4 Territory in Regina, Saskatchewan, where she experiments in gardening, medieval cooking, and cat whispering. Find more at https://mariepowell.ca
