About me
Paola Santos is the author of HOW TO EAT A MANGO, CÓMO SE COME UN MANGO, and the forthcoming picture book A HOUSE IN MY BARRIO (Henry Holt / Macmillan), Fall 2026. Her books have received starred reviews from School Library Journal, Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, and BookPage, and have been listed as Bank Street of Education Best Children’s Books of 2025 (English and Spanish editions), Chicago Public Library Best Picture Books of 2024, New York Public Library Best Children’s Books in Spanish of 2024, Colors of Us Best Multicultural Picture Books of 2024, and School Library Journal pics for Bilingual Books for Kids of 2024. Paola grew up in Venezuela, in a place known as “La tierra del sol amada” (The Land Beloved by the Sun). She finds joy in weaving deep emotions into her stories and describes herself as a curious seeker who sees the world with childlike wonder. Paola holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Literature and Children’s Literature and Reading Promotion. She lives in Edmonton.
