About me
Erin Weir is a playwright, theatre artist, and educator based in Calgary, where she serves as co-artistic director of Full Circle Theatre.
Her work specializes in collective creation, adaptation, and making Shakespeare cool again. This includes co-writing the award-winning Riverona (a CW-style retelling of Romeo and Juliet), the award-winning Porcelain Dolls ("that play that takes place in the women's washroom at a bar) and They Say (a Bridgerton-inspired prequel to Much Ado About Nothing). Erin is also working on her first novel, a second-chance hockey romance. (Shakespeare connection - a character named Hortensio.) Outside the rehearsal hall, Erin is the Learning and Education Resource Specialist in University of Calgary’s Postgraduate Medical Education, where she supports medical residents through individualized learning strategies and workshop delivery. She has strong opinions about making theatre approachable, a soft spot for CW nonsense, and is prone to making a shared Google Doc at the drop of a hat. In August 2024, we received a Best Original Script CAT Award for Riverona, a teen drama adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, and in 2025 we received a Best Original Script CAT Award for Porcelain Dolls.
