Writing is one of the few things that curb Jason’s incessant need to talk out loud. People close to him agree he’s much easier to tolerate when he’s working on a story.
Today, Jason writes literary and speculative fiction, exploring themes of Indigenous cultural identity, language loss and rural life. His work has appeared in
Malahat Review,
Grain,
Flash Fiction Online and
The Deadlands (Psychopomp).
A proud alumnus of the
Audible Indigenous Writers’ Circle, Jason is of English and Mi’kmaw descent. He was born in Elmastukwek, the traditional name of the place currently referred to as Bay of Islands, Newfoundland & Labrador. His debut novel draws on the rich culture and history of that region and is scheduled for release by House of Anansi Press in Fall 2027.
