Calgary writer Susan Calder is the author of six novels published by BWL Publishing Inc. Four of the books are part of her Paula Savard Mystery Series and the fifth is a standalone suspense novel set in Calgary and California. Susan’s most recent mystery novel,
A Killer Whisky, takes place in Calgary during the 1918 influenza pandemic, World War One, and Alberta Prohibition. Her short stories and poems have won contests and appeared in magazines and anthologies, including the Sisters in Crime–Canada West 2026 anthology
Crime Wave 4: Home Sweet Homicide. Susan has also published non-fiction articles and taught courses at the Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society. She is a member of the AWCS Historical Fiction Roundtable, Crime Writers of Canada, Sisters in Crime, and the Writers’ Guild of Alberta. Susan is currently working on a suspense novel set in Czechia during the outbreak of World War One.
